There were many misses during the Oscars but a prominent one was the tweet of a beauty brand, who mistook actress Whoopi Goldberg for television icon Oprah Winfrey.
Some took it pretty hard when a beauty website paid an unfortunate compliment to Oprah Winfrey, confusing her to Whoopi Goldberg.
In a tweet commenting on the red carpet looks of the star, Total Beauty thought that Whoopi was Oprah. It went terribly wrong.
A beauty company from Los Angeles tweeted a picture of Goldberg with a caption, saying, "We had no idea @Oprah was #tatted, and we love it." Well, she doesn’t.
They were making a reference on Goldberg’s red carpet at the 88th Academy Awards.
This was a very bad move considering that the past year was a year of protests against all-white awards racial issues. Confusing African-American women in the media was completely unnecessary, not to say merciless.
The tweet has been deleted shortly after, but the sharp eye of the public never misses anything and never forgives.
As a result, Total Beauty apologized politely and promised to donate $10,000 to a charity of their choice.
To be honest, it could have been a mistake made in a hurry, and haters are gonna hate.
